I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge 'Thank You' on behalf of all the staff in school for the lovely cards, gifts and thoughtful comments we have received over the festive period.

Our choir have been extremely busy this year, performing at Rotherham Minster, the incredible service of Remembrance at St Francis' Church, the local library and Morrisons too.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Concerts this year, all children taking part and incredible family support.

The children have had a super school Christmas with many exciting events happening and now, it is time for family Christmas' to begin.

We look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.

School opens for all children on Monday 7th January 2019 at the normal time of 08:35.

A big thank you to Mr Brown, who has taken on the role of Crossing Patrol Person, whilst Mrs Brittle recuperates.

He is enjoying his additional role, helping our families. I am sure parents and children are appreciative of him volunteering his services to help ensure that all our children are kept safe whilst crossing the road.

It is that time of year again and with Christmas fast approaching, we realise that many of our children may be fortunate enough to receive a special gift in the coming weeks in the form of an electronic device e.g. a tablet, smart phone or games console and we would like to remind you all of the importance of E-Safety.  We have outlined a few brief pointers below on how you can support your child with their existing or any new device.

  • Set up parental controls on the device to limit what your child can access and set time limitations on their use (especially useful with games consoles). To find out more information on this visit http://www.internetmatters.org/
  • Talk to your child about not sharing personal information with strangers when they are using the internet. If someone tries to engage with them online, they should tell an adult immediately. Children need to know that they are not the ones in the wrong.
  • Set a ‘digital dusk’ and limit their time on devices. This can be done through your internet service provider.
  • Look at downloading child friendly apps. For example, you can put ‘You Tube Kids’ on their device which filters out inappropriate content.
  • Many apps have an age restriction (usually 13) so make sure that you talk to your child about not downloading applications which are not suitable for them.
  • Video games are very popular, but remember that many of them are rated ‘16’ or ‘18’ which means that they have inappropriate content; content that is not always obvious.
  • Finally, talk to your child about being safe on the internet. We all want them to enjoy their devices, but most importantly we want them to be safe.

For more information on how to stay safe online, please visit the school website; click on the 'Information' tab at the top of the web page then follow the E-Safety drop down menu.
